The 2012 Oklahoma District Oratorical Scholarship finals were held May 19, 2012, at the Third Quarter District Conference in Oklahoma City.

Of the 10 finalist, the judges selected the ‘best’ boy and ‘best’ girl for award of $2,500 scholarship to each. The winning girl is Candace Osterhout, of Edmond, sponsored by the Chickasha Optimist Club; the winning boy is Brayson Williams, of Edmond, sponsored by the Downtown Oklahoma City Optimist Club.

The 2012 Oklahoma District Optimist International Essay winner was announced at the Third Quarter Conference in Oklahoma City; she is Hayley Parker, sponsored by the Mustang Optimist Club. Hayley receives a $2,500 scholarship to help with her schooling. She graduates this year and enters the Gaylord School of Journalism at O.U. next fall. Congratulations Hayley, and best wishes for your career.

The Second Quarter District Conference and Awards ceremony for the 2010-2011 year has concluded. Thanks to all who attended the event in Oklahoma City.

A zone-attendance record was set at the Conference: three zones each had 100% club representation. More details coming later Sunday evening.
